Okay, so next week I have all my final exams which I am soo excited about. I am so ready to be finished with this semester and just relax before the next semester. I really think that my exams are going to go well but I cannot be too sure so I am going to work my hardest. Well, my excitement was uncontainable until I found out that I am getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 18^th! I am super nervous about this because I hear it is pretty painful. I have had my bottom wisdom teeth in for a while now and my top ones have started coming in but I do not think they are all the way in. I did not have problems with them coming in but now they are moving my teeth and making it really uncomfortable. Anyway, I am happy that they came in normal because now they will not have to cut so deep to get them out, if they have to, which I hope they do not. I am getting it done at my dentist so they cannot put me completely out so I guess they give you these muscle relaxers that you take an hour or so before you come. I heard they make you pretty loopy so that will be interesting. When I get there they give you laughing gas and numb your mouth all up with shots, which I have gotten before when I got cavities filled and they are not fun at all. When you get the shots it makes it really hard for you to drink anything while your mouth is still numb because you cannot feel anything! Anyway, wish me luck, I am super nervous!

Career

So I am really upset that I have not been able to go to physical therapy for the past two weeks. I am supposed to be observing to get onto the waiting list for the Physical Therapy Assistant program here at Rhodes and I have like 9 ½ more hours to go and I could have gotten them done but it seems like everything has been popping up and stopping me from going. Two weeks ago it was Thanksgiving week and I went on Tuesday after class but Thursday I could not because of Thanksgiving. Last week on Tuesday I could not go because I had so much homework to do before Wednesday and Thursday and on Thursday I ended up staying later than I thought at school and could not go. I am pretty disappointed because I really want to get this finished so that I am on the waiting list and the faster I get on the waiting list the faster I get into my program. Thinking about my Program I am so excited! I want to just finish college so bad so I can start a real job and make good money. I also really like to learn about the Human Body because it pertains to me too. I like learning how it does the things it does and why it does this. It is really fun to see how diseases play their course in the body and how medicines work in the body as well. The human body is really a neat thing to know about. I am so excited to learn all this stuff so I can help people who are in pain and having trouble.

Other Class: Anatomy

So the past two weeks we have done pretty cool stuff in my Anatomy lab and I missed both of them. One week they dissected a sheep brain and the next week they looked at a cadaver. This week we dissected a cow eye which was pretty neat. We cut off the cornea and the outer part so that all the liquid on the inside that holds everything in place would fall out. After that we looked at the optic disk which is kind of a part of the retina and then we peeled the retina away from the choroid thing. We even popped the cornea off of the outer part of the eye and it was really weird because it was hard but we cut it in half and then it kind of just peeled away in layers. After you peel away the retina though you can see were the optic nerve goes into the eye, and that is the nerve that goes to the brain to send all the signals your eyes gets so that your brain kind of paints a picture for you to see. Isn’t that neat? Well, in case you did not know the optic disk is your blind spot, whatever light and colors your eye receives and it hits that spot you cannot see it, weird right? Well anyway, the eye dissection was really cool but I wish I would have went for the cadaver. It kind of freaks me out like looking at and touching dead bodies but I still think it is a pretty neat way to learn.

Okay so I already blogged about my awful luck with my car so that everyone already knows. I am not real sure if I mentioned that one day after class, on Wednesday, which is the day that I have three classes and do not get out until 3 or 3:30. Well I walked out and went to start my car and it would not start. Well I left it over night and I left with my best friend. Well my grandparents came up the next day to get it and it started right up for them. My grandpa figured my starter was going bad and said we would just wait until it went completely out to put the new one in it. Well my mom works like 5 minutes from home so she started driving my car so just in case something does happen we do not have to come to Lima, so I drive her car to class now. Well, yesterday morning she went to take it to work and it would not start and I had ended up not waking up for class and when I had gotten up and gotten ready to observe for PT it would not start either. My grandpa had come out to put the new starter in it and then he realized my car was in DRIVE! Wow, did I feel like an idiot but not completely because my mom did not realize it either. But I had remembered that the day before I had driven it and was on my way home from school and I had to pee really bad so when I got home I was in such a hurry that I must of kept my foot on the brake and just shut the car off and did not put it in park. Needless to say, I am a blonde brunette. A little embarrassing but I figured someone would get a chuckle out of it.

Career

So for this paper we are writing in English it kind of goes hand in hand with my career path. We have to write a persuasive essay over a topic of your choice. I chose to do Direct Access in Physical Therapy which is for patients to be able to see a physical therapist without a physicians referral. I think this is awesome because when I was going to physical therapy I had to have a doctors referral or I might not have had to but I went and seen the doctor first anyway. But when I was done with physical therapy I thought that people should be able to go when they want and not have to have the doctors approval and that was before I found out about direct access. After reading about all of this and doing research I have learned a lot which makes me feel even more positive about direct access. I think direct access is an awesome idea, it helps people get into physical therapy faster than having to go to their family doctor and get referred to the PT. It costs patients less money too because they do not have to pay for the doctor office costs just for physical therapists. There are only a few states in the United States that do not do direct access and are trying really hard to get it. Medicare is also trying to get direct access as well. I think direct access is a great idea though!

In Class Writing 14

Well, to start of this whole shenanigan, I forgot my girlfriend’s birthday. I know, that is probably one of the worst things you can do to a girl, well not the worst but I know it is pretty bad. Trust me, you will never hear the end of forgetting something so just do not do it, writing everything down is your best bet. It all started the morning of her birthday, I woke up late and when I went to get out of bed I tripped over the dog and fell down, now if that is not a bad way to start your morning then I am not sure what is. I got up though and took my shower, which there was not any hot water and no breakfast so I just went ahead and drove to school. Luckily, my drive was short and uneventful and then I rolled up to school and parked and ran to the doors to get to class. I went to all my classes and had not been able to see my girlfriend at all but I kept getting dirty looks from her best friends. At the end of the day I saw her and we talked and she asked what we were doing tonight and I had told her that I was going out with the guys. Right after I said that she stormed off and I could not figure out what her deal was. I headed home, puzzled, and when I got home my parents were there and were way too excited just to see me. They asked how my girlfriend was and asked if her birthday was going well. That was when it hit me, I forgot all about her birthday until now and she is mad at me. I told my parents I forgot and they just shook their head and told me I really need to start writing this stuff down. They told me to call her and have her here by 7 o’clock. So I did and she was still mad but she finally agreed to come over. My parents had cooked her favorite dinner and put a candle on the table, my mom had went and bought a vase of flowers and luckily I had already gotten her birthday present the week before so it was in my room. When she arrived I gave her the flowers and we ate dinner and then I gave her the present, which was a diamond necklace and obviously she forgave me. It was awesome being able to see all the excitement in her face and after she left, I sighed a big sigh of relief and took a shower and went to bed. That is how my parents helped me make up with my girlfriend and saved the day.

Misc

I am so, so, so, excited for this week. Today, Tuesday, and Wednesday I have class which kind of sucks but we are not really doing anything in any of them anyway. Today I found out that since so many did poorly on our Anatomy exam that we are going to have a curve test on Monday that is worth 17 points! I did not do too bad on my test but these extra points will make it even better. Tuesday I have English and we are working on our paper so that will be helpful and Wednesday I have Public Speaking, Anatomy lecture, and Anatomy lab. In Public Speaking we have policy speeches which is the last speech before our final one. In my anatomy lecture we are just going over notes and in my Anatomy lab we are looking at a cadaver. Which would be really exciting but, Wednesday is also my birthday so I really dont want to go to class at all. I will go to my Public Speaking class for sure but I am not sure about the other two. Thursday is the big day that everyone is excited for, Thanksgiving! I am so excited to get together with my family and eat all the yummy food and then go to my boyfriends for his Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving has to be the best time of the year, it feels so warm and loving and everyone gets stuffed and just sits around and talks. Friday is of course Black Friday, which I am still trying to talk my mom into going but it is not going well. Anyway, I hope everyone else has an awesome Thanksgiving and stays safe and has a great time with all their loved ones!

Other Class

Last week I had my fourth exam in my Anatomy and Physiology 1 lecture class and I must say I was really nervous about it. I was not completely sure if I was going to get a good grade or even a decent grade. It was over the muscles, bone tissue, and nervous system. I understood the part about the bone tissue really well and I understood most of the muscle part except some of the stuff that I thought would be really important. The part that I did not think I knew very well was the over the nervous system. I was so worried because that was the last thing we had learned about and I had not studied it. I really did not study for any of it except on the day of the test which I know is a really bad idea but I had been busy all week and stressed out so I kind of forgot to study. I was really upset that I did not study because I have to do really well in these classes this year because if I do not pass I have to pay back the money for the classes that I did not pass, which is something that I definitely do not want to do. But anyway, good news is I passed the test with an 87/100, which is not that good but it is something that I will take. I was nervous to check my grade but when I did it was a huge sigh of relief. So, I am definitely going to study harder for the next one!

Career

So I started observing at Bellefontaine Physical Therapy on Tuesday to get into my program. I have to have 20 hours there and I already have nine and a half done, so that is kind of exciting. I want to try and get them all finished before the end of this semester so I can send the paper in to the school because I will be done with my computer class and I will be put on the waiting list! Anyway, observing at the Bellefontaine PT is way more fun than when I observed at the nursing home because it is a totally different clientele. The clients that were at the nursing home went to physical therapy because they needed to strengthen their muscles for basic things, the people that come in at Bellefontaine PT are there for various things. A few people had rotator cuff surgery, some had knee replacements, and some had back surgery. At Bellefontaine PT I have learned quite a bit because the Physical Therapists kind of explain to me what they are doing and why they are doing it. The clients that come in are really nice and they always talk to me and will tell me why they are there. I decided that this is definitely the field of Physical Therapy that I want to go into, outpatient. In outpatient physical therapy you work with clients that have had surgery or have hurt themselves through work, it is just a bigger variety of people and problems. I am really excited to be done with school and start my job.

Hopkin's essay is about teaching. She talks about how she went to school and then became a member of the Teach for America Coporation (TFA). Hopkin's said she went through a program the summer before she started teaching her first grade class and unprepared she was. She said that her educational tool kit was not developed enough and did not know how to give her students an equal chance in the system. She creates an idea where a veteran teacher is paired with the first year teacher to help them get the feel of it. I believe this is an excellent idea for someone to be paired with an older teacher. This helps them get the hang of things while having someone there to help them that first year. I think that being an elementary school teacher would come a little easier than being in high school when it is your first year but then again, I do not know. I had first hand experience with a first year teacher. My junior year of high school and we had a brand new English teacher. She came from BG and as soon as everyone knew that I think she lost a little respect just because everyone thought they knew what she did every weekend. Anyway, I do not think she was completely prepared because the class did not turn out well. Many people were getting bad grades and it was because of the way she taught the class. I even talked to other teachers about her teaching methods and they thought they were odd and said well its her first year, she will learn. I guess with any job you will have that first year which is completely learning for the most part and it will be hard, not only on you but everyone else as well.

In Class Writing

I enjoyed the videos we watched today in class. They were called Everything Is a Remix and they were pretty interesting. The videos put a lot of things into perspective that I did not know before. I did not know that a lot of things were “remixes” or “copies” of other things. When we were taught in school about who made the first computer or light bulb or all of those things, we were taught the most famous people but we weren’t taught that they were just better copies of the first one. I was really surprised to learn that what I knew about Henry Ford was different, I knew he did not start the automobile or automobile parts but I was taught that he created the assembly line, but in reality he just put that with the two other things to produce cars faster. I think a lot more people should watch these videos because it really teaches you a lot. It was neat to see him take the beat of a really old song and show other songs that it was in after that as well. I am sure it took a lot of time and research to make these videos and I think they are pretty neat. I thought that it was interesting to see how movies really related with each other and how 50 movies can kind of take a part in the making of just one movie. Like when he talked about Star Wars and how it had so many parts in it that resembled so many other movies. It makes sense though because like he said, a person has to kind of copy and look at other great works to make theirs just as great. It takes real talent to start from the ground up, all on your own and I don’t know if anyone can really do that.

Other Class

So this Wednesday I have my Anatomy lecture exam. I am not excited at all because I think it is going to be pretty hard. The exam is over some of bone tissue, the muscular system, and the nervous system. The bone tissue and muscular system should be pretty easy but I am super nervous about the nervous system.part. In lecture it is the physiology of anatomy, which is how things work. When you learn this it is more of a chemistry look at anatomy. You learn how proteins go into cells and how the cells work to make everything else work. This is not fun because I am not the chemisty or physiology type of person so it is harder for me to learn. Learning about all this though is kind of interesting. Through my lab I am learning where things are and through lecture I am learning how it all works to make your body work. It is kind of fun to learn about the tests definitely are not fun. I am really nervous about the nervous system part because it was a lot of different things. We had a pretty big packet over it all and it is kind of confusing. But I think that if I study pretty hard then it hopefully will not be too hard of a test. Also, I have to get a decent grade on it so it does not lower my grade in the class because if it does then I run the risk of not passing the test, which is not good at all. Wish me luck!

Career

So for the PTA program at Rhodes we have to do observation hours at two different Physcical Therapy places. The first one I did was at a nursing home and I did not really like it, I know now that that is not what I really want to do for the rest of my life. When I went through Physical Therapy I went through an outpatient program and I loved being there so I think I would love to work there. I am getting ready to start at the second place to observe and I am kind of excited. This place is another outpatient place. People get prescriptions from their doctors that say where they are going to go and they just take the prescription to the Physical Therapist and that is how they start. No one can just decide one day that they want to go and just walk in and start. When I went in I talked to one of the Physical Therapists and he was excited that I wanted to observe and he was even excited that I am going to Rhodes. Hopefully I can maybe get a job there when I am finished and be a Physical Therapist Assistant there. I am more excited about observing here because there will be more of a variety of people that they work with, not just old people. I am going to start tomorrow! I  am super excited.

So for English right now I am writing an essay over 2b or Not 2b from our They Say I Say text book. It is an excerpt from David Crystal’s book written in 2008. At the beginning of the passage, before Crystal’s essay there is an excerpt from a newspaper article written by Humphrys where he talks about how texters are ruining the English language. Throughout Crystal’s essay, Crystal argues against what Humphrys says because he believes that texting is not hurting our language. He talks about how our generation is not the generation that started all of this, that our elders abbreviated things as well. The difference between them abbreviating words and us doing it is that they did not have texting and internet so they did not do it all the time. Now that we have texting and internet and that is our main use of communication we use abbreviations to make it quicker and since we do it a lot every day people see it a lot more. A lot of people think it was the younger generations that started this because they did not have texting but really we are just using what they started. He also talks about how he found research over kids and their literature. Kids that used more abbreviations scored higher on their reading and literature tests, weird right? Well, he also talks about how for us to abbreviate things we have to know the meaning of what we are abbreviating. I think this is a good assumption because it is true. He also talks about how we would not send a text that is so full of abbreviations that we couldn’t understand it because we still have to pay for the texts that we send so why send one that doesn’t make sense to send another that does. I think texting is very controversial but I don’t think it is a bad idea.

So Sunday I was completely thrown off by the time change and was up at 8. My boyfriend is moving into his own little house and wants me to move in of course but that is a different story. We went shopping for curtains and could not find anything we liked. Well, he ended up getting frustrated so we went back to his house to watch TV and what not and I was working on my English paper and then he went and got his SD card for his trail cam which made him want to go to the woods. Now, I grew up in the country on a farm, we had horses and four wheelers and a huge woods but I have never been out hunting and stuff. Well a few months ago he got me a dog that really turned out to be his that he wants to use for squirrel hunting so we took her out with us to run around. So we go to the woods and walk around and we even sat and waited to see if any squirrels would come around, and they did not. Well, then we decided to walk around some more and look at this guy’s pond and then we walked the edge of the corn field and woods. I learned that does will clear a little spot on the ground and pee and then will rub there nose on some trees and then leave so when a buck comes walking he sniffs it and follows her. Kind of interesting stuff to learn I guess. But, that was my Sunday if you are interested.

So I just want all of you to know that I seriously have the worst luck in the entire world probably, well with cars at least. So here goes the horrific luck that I have had because you might find it funny, a lot of people do. Well when I turned fifteen and a half I drove with the instructor just like everyone else. Well, all the days were fine until I had to drive with this old guy, we were driving on this small country road and were coming up on a hill and I got over as far as I could while still on the road. This obviously was not good enough because he grabbed the wheel and yanked it towards him and was like, “you need to get off the road some because you have no idea what’s on the other side.” I was like seriously you couldn’t just tell me that? Well, it came to my driver’s test and I passed but I did hit a cone but didn’t knock it over. Well everything was going fine, my birthday is in November and in December, I was passing a car and almost hit a state trooper head on. I was going to try the fake tear thing but it was a lady cop and she was not going for that. I went to court a month later and got my license suspended for 6 months, with privileges to school and work and volleyball. Well, in May, a month before I get my license back I wrecked my car! I live on top of a big hill and there are a lot of accidents, well we got a bunch of rain and my tires were bad and I started fish tailing down the hill and then my car jerked sideways and I hit a tree. I was completely fine, luckily because there is a huge hill going down into a woods. I went to court and lost my license until I was 17 with privileges again. When I finally got my license back and a car I was going to grandmas and got a flat tire, we fixed it. Like, a month later I was in town at like 3:30 in the afternoon and hit a deer. Luckily it only hurt my car cosmetically, which I still haven’t fixed. Needless to say, I should ride a bike.

In Class Writing 11

Tonight was the night of the big Halloween party at the Museum of Spooky Things. Every Halloween all the things in the museum come to life and host their annual Halloween party. Not only do the objects there come to life but many other people come dressed in their best costumes. Everyone was walking around talking and drinking punch while the pumpkins were singing their spooky songs. The witch had her cauldron in the chimney with the fire going and she was boiling water for her famous soup. Each person had to bring a dish to the party and the witch’s soup was always the main dish and the favorite of all the party goers. No one was real sure what she put in the soup but they still ate it anyway because all that mattered was that it was really good. There were certain people that were not allowed into the museum for the Halloween party and nobody ever knew why. Well, this year Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny had a plan to break into the museum to crash the party. The Easter Bunny dressed up as a dog and all he needed to do was get the cauldron out of the chimney so Santa could get in. The bad thing was that everyone seemed to notice that the Easter Bunny was there because he was hopping instead of walking. They all ignored it but when he started getting close to the cauldron, the witch ignored it until he got really close and then she pushed him. He started screaming and screaming and Santa thought this was his clue to come in so he jumped down the chimney. This did not end well because he landed right on top of the Easter Bunny and the cauldron tipped over and there they were laying in the middle of the floor, everyone staring at them.

Next Semester

So since I am a PSEO student I turned in my schedule for next semester on Friday. I had talked with my advisor the week before and got my schedule figured out and he wrote it on the paper and everything. I am actually really excited about this next semester. This semester I have been taking classes everyday but next semester I am only taking Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes, it will be really nice to have Tuesdays and Thursdays off.  I have to be there at 8 all those days but I leave at a decent time each day. I am taking Anatomy and Physiology 2, Psychology, College Algebra, and Medical Terminology. My Anatomy has a lecture and lab to it so it is kind of like two different classes. The one thing I am not excited about at all is my math class because I just really do not like math at all. But I am excited to get it all over with because after this year I will only have two classes left of my gen. eds. I think the thing that I am most excited about is that I graduate after next semester, from high school that is. I get out like a whole month before my high school and before graduation. So I will just sit around, work, and enjoy the freedom. I never thought I would be so excited about graduation but I am. I am kind of nervous though because after this year is over I have to fill out FASFA and I will be paying for the rest of my college. The good thing is that I will be happy doing what I will be doing (hopefully) and it will make paying off loans a lot easier.

In Class Writing 10

We were on our way to a game one day, the football players and cheerleaders. It was a normal, hot, summer day and we were all crammed on the bus. In my opinion the bus driver was a total nut case and the guys were being stupid, with the coach turning around occasionally telling them to shut up. Well, we were on some back roads making our way there, slowly but surely. Next thing we know we here a thud, thud, thud.. of course the tire was flat. We all stayed on the bus while the driver and coach got out to check it out and they were pretty weirded out, I was the only one really paying attention to what they were doing and I noticed it was some weird tooth thing that resembled those star things that ninjas use in all those movies. Coach told us it was okay to get off the bus because we would be here for awhile. The guys all went out to the field and were talking and smoking while us girls got on the top of the bus and tried to get some sun. It seemed like we had been there for like ever because it was so hot out. The bus driver could not get a hold of anyone because the radio was down and everyone else's phones were dead or did not have service. We were sitting there awhile longer and the sun started to set so they made us get back on the bus, that was when I saw something fly over us. It was a huge shadow and when I looked up I was completely creeped out. It was bigger than a bird but smaller than a plane, it almost seemed like a person.

I do not really know how I feel about Lantry's article, not the article in itself, but the ads. I think the reading is very helpful for the paper that we are doing though. I think that the ads make it seem like women need to do all these things just to find a husband or lover. It makes it seem like that is the only thing a woman should worry about in her life, granted, these are old ads and that is really all women did back in the day. I still think it is wrong. I think that women should be free to do what they want and not have getting married be their only worry. I also think it is really terrible that they try to push that idea into girls minds as well, they should have fun and not worry about boys. This really explains why girls are the way they are at such a young age. Girls think they need to wear make-up and inappropriate clothing to impress boys. Now, even though I feel this way about the ads, I still think they use this idea in a great way to sell their product. Girls and women are always looking for ways to look better and make men and boys want them. This will always be a concern to women, so if you incorporate into your ad you will most likely always have buyers.

In Class Writing 8

I have been an investrigator for about twenty five years and I think I have seen almost everything but you are always shocked when you see things. Well, it was about ten at night and I get a call that woke me up from a pretty good sleep. That is the one downfall of this job, they just call you whenever they need you. So, I get up and get dressed and head for the scene. When I arrived, there were plenty of cops and nosey people crowding the building. I come up to the chief and he briefed me on what was going on, there was a twenty five year old male victim, dead from electric shock because somehow a radio got thrown into the tub. This was awfully rare because of the location, we were at The Hilton Hotel. I head up to the room and sure enough there he was, in the tub holding the radio. My first thought was to rule out suicide because hee was a pretty wealthy guy and at such a young age it would be crazy. My guess was some bad business with the wrong people or some crazy girlfriend. Next thing I know I thought my guess was right, I looked over and found a long, brown, strand of hair laying on the tile, so I bagged it. I took some finger prints off the door knob and the sink and the knobs to turn the water on and then I headed back down to my truck to get a few more things. As I was walking down the hall a lady stops me and tells me a young man had took off running from the room after she heard a scream and she had not seen him since. And this was where my investigation started.

In-Class Writing 9

One day I was out shopping with my wife, whom is 6 months pregnant and showing pretty well. We had been married for a year and were absolutely in love with each other so when we got the news of our little baby boy we were ecstatic. We had been out buying clothes, toys, diapers, blankets, anything for a baby pretty much. We buy a little at a time so that we do not have to spend a lot of money at once. We have been back and forth with the name and we still have not decided but we have never been so happy in our life. Anyway, we were in Babies-R-Us, down the baby toy aisle just laughing and talking about how cute these toys were. We had already picked up a really soft blanket and the car seat that we wanted and were just picking up a few little things and as soon as we were walking out of the aisle, something terrible happened. This petite woman pops up at the end of the aisle and is just staring at me. I knew exactly who it was and so did my wife, but good thing is my wife did not let it phase her because she knew I was happy and we were going to have a baby soon. The woman said, “Hi John, long time no see.” So I replied, “Hi Lori, it’s good to see you. I hope everything is going well.” She replied, “Oh, I’m doing fine, what brings you here?” She had clearly seen my wife was pregnant but I replied anyway, “Well we are having a baby here in 3 months and we are just shopping for it.” Next thing you know Karen turned and walked away really fast, you could see the hurt in her eyes. I felt really bad because 2 years ago I had broken up with her because I just did not feel the same about her and did not want to waste time when I could be finding the woman I really love.

Other Class

So since I am a freshman I had to take that stupid SDE class. It was literally a waste of time and I do not want to be mean about it but dang, it took a lot of time I could have been spending on other classes. It is 8 weeks long and quite possibly the easiest class I’ve ever taken; it is a tie between that and my computer class. I took it online because I did not want to be at the school for another two hour class that I could just as easy take online and do it on my own time. Well that was the only good thing about the class, is the fact that it was online. I could cram it all in on one day or I could do a little bit each day of the week, the only thing that mattered was that it needed to be finished by midnight on Friday, such a piece of cake.  Each week I would have 2 or 3 discussion boards where you would read the instructions and then post a thing that is kind of like a blog post answering the questions. After you post that you usually have to read through 2 or 3 other students post and post a comment on theirs. Then after that you have to create a new post called “reflection” talking about what you learned from that assignment. We would have journal entries in the book that we had to post on there, just for the instructor to see. That is all we did, every week, for eight weeks straight. The biggest waste of time ever, but I came out with an A.

Haunted Housing

You know that heart racing, blood pumping, fight or flight feeling? I love it. I love having an adrenaline rush, it is awesome. So because of this I love roller coasters and I love haunted houses. Since it is that time of the year, yes, Halloween, I went to two haunted houses. I went to the Haunted Hoochie in Columbus and I went to the Haunted Prison in Mansfield. The Haunted Hoochie was definitely way better. There were people that were coming out of hidden places all the time and there were also quite a few dummy type things too. You were always getting scared, or at least they were trying to scare you and they definitely succeeded when it came to me. I was screaming pretty much the whole time and I was so tense that the next day the muscles in my back hurt, but I would go back. It was the best haunted thing I have been through before. The Haunted Prison was a different situation though. It is a real prison that was shut down in the 90’s supposedly because they tortured their prisoners too much, it is also actually haunted. At the prison you can set up live ghost hunts throughout the year and you can pay extra and they will turn you loose inside the prison for a night if you want without the people trying to scare you. Going through it there were not that many people that would jump out and scare you, there were just a lot of dummies. It was a really neat thing to go through though because it is so old and because it is completely different from the prisons they have now. But if you decide to go and get scared, I recommend the Haunted Hoochie.

Career

So I'm going to college to become a Physical Therapist. As of now I'm going to Rhodes to get my PTA degree. I'm totally excited about it because I loved going through physical therapy and I can't wait to help other people. The process that goes into becoming one is my issue. For me to be put on the waiting list at Rhodes I have to pass my computer class and I have to finish 40 hours of observation. And let me tell you, observing is not very fun. Right now I'm observing at a nursing home and I can already tell that's not the Physical Therapy that I want to do. I sit there and watch all these elderly people do things they don't want to do and and they are super tired by the end of it. It makes me sad to see this because they cannot help it. I can only imagine brim in their place, which someday I could be. They can only walk for a short amount of time, if they can walk at all. Many of them are really sad I be there because they just want to be home, who wouldn't want to be? One lady was talking about how her cat missed her and how she hoped he was okay. It made me sad. There were also people that would come visit from their families which made them light up. I just would hate to see someone stuck in there without any visitors and nothing to look forward to every day. But anyways, the type of Physical Therapy I want to do is outpatient, that's the type of place I went to for physical therapy as well. You have all kinds of people who come in like athletes, elderly, factory workers, just anyone that gets hurt and there's even kids. I just cannot wait to be able to help people and get paid for it. I really hope all the schooling goes by quickly.

This reading was really interesting to me. I like reading magazines and it is usually the ones that catch my attention first but I have never paid much attention to what caught my attention. After reading this it makes sense. All the magazines that I usually pick up to read usually have these big, bold, flashy numbers. Not only that but it is the colors too, bright colors would catch my attention more than darker colors. I really like when magazines have lists of the greatest things happening now because it is fast to read and usually pretty interesting. I do not usually get real into reading long articles on one specific thing because I either get bored or I do not have enough time for it. I think it is crazy that they have realized this over the years because I am sure no one else has really paid much attention to it. I think that when it comes to magazines that they put a lot of thought into making them but sometimes they do not even have that much in them. Which makes me think that people are crazy to pay that much for one magazine. I worked in grocery store that was privately owned so we were not busy all the time and they were pretty lenient with us, and I would just pick up a magazine and read it while I was there because I just was not going to pay four dollars for something I was going to read once.

In Class Writing 7

It was a typical morning, I had breakfast and then went to school. The day seemed to drag on and when it was finally over I raced home. When I arrived home I noticed my parents were home and this is very unusual because they are usually working when I get home. I put the weirdness aside and figured they just got off work early and walked into the house. As soon as I walked through the door I saw my parents standing there waiting for me and they had these shirts on. The shirts said “WE ARE GOING TO SCOTLAND!” They were all giddy and what not and I just could not figure out why we were going. I smiled sweetly and went to my room. Now, I have not heard anything exciting about Scotland before and my curiosity was getting the best of me. I decided to Google Scotland and see what things pop up. Weirdly enough all kinds of fun things came up and I got kind of excited. I decided to go ahead and get started on my homework and wait for dinner. A couple of hours later, mom and dad call me downstairs for dinner which smelled so delicious. This was odd because usually we never have anything good for dinner because my parents like to try new things, and they always end up awful. Once I got to the kitchen I realized we were having tacos, my favorite. I could not figure out why my parents were being so nice, until the dinner conversation started. That night was the night I found out the tooth fairy was not real.

In Class Writing 6

During this political season all these ads and commercials are just aggravating to me. This year I am seriously a week late on being able to vote. I turn 18 on the 21st and because of this I have not paid that much attention to the commercials. But I feel strongly about the election. Romney can come out and propose all these awesome ideas right now, just like every other president, but usually they don't follow through. All the people are just looking for something new and better and will fall for anything. It seems like they don't put that much thought into it at all. Everyone says Obama did nothing for us besides hurt us. This is where I disagree, we were or are in a recession, which is not as bad as a depression by any means, but how did we get out of the Depression? That's right, by spending money. These are growing times, obviously prices will fluctuate and go up. Obama was not put into anything good either. Bush screwed up the economy and jobs, Obama cannot just fix it by the snap of his fingers. People should give him a chance because I would like to see any one person become president and make our country better in 4 years tops.

Public Speaking

So I am taking Public Speaking, not because I want to but because I have to. I guess the school thinks it is a good idea because I want to become a PTA which means I will have to talk to people every day but I disagree. I know I will have to talk to people every day but definitely not in that manner. I have never had a problem with talking to people, I can start and have an informal conversation over almost anything. When it comes to standing in front of people and giving a formal speech over anything I just kind of freak out. My heart starts racing when my turn is next, I stand up and walk to the front of the class slowly and start rambling. I mess up simple words and I can never get the time right on point. I either say it so fast that it is short or I just keep rambling and it does not even make sense. I think what really gets me is that everyone is looking at me and the fact that I do not even make simple conversations with half the class. I start to sweat and get really hot by the end of it and after it is over I cannot figure out why I got so worked up. Needless to say, I will be so excited when I am finished with this class after this semester. I hope I can at least push through and get a good grade so I do not end up taking it over again. I would feel terrible about myself because it is not hard at all.

Anatomy and Physiology

Today I had my Anatomy and Physiology Lecture and it really is not too bad. I think the only reason I really like it is because I really like learning about the body. I really like learning about where the parts are and the names of them but I also like learning about how they work, it is pretty interesting. We took an exam in there last week and I thought I did pretty well but it turns out otherwise. I did not do that bad, I did better than my first exam but I wanted to do a lot better. I got a B- which is not too bad I suppose. It was over how the cell works and some chemistry stuff. I did not like learning about either one of those so that may be why I did not do very well. I really like my professor he is funny and is good at teaching what he teaches. I feel like I learn a lot more in his class because I like the way he teaches. He makes it fun and gives us quirky ways on how to remember certain things. This helps a lot because I usually remember weird things more often than uninteresting things. This class and my lab are my favorite classes because it was I like to learn about most. I think that if I try a little harder with studying and now that I know how his exams are I will do a lot better on my next ones, hopefully.

In Class Writing 5

Intro:

We all know that catchy fairy tale phrase, once upon a time and what comes after it. The TV series, Once Upon A Time does not let down your expectations of the phrase either. It brings together the magic of fairy tales with the realistic problems of the everyday person. This series almost brings to life those fairy tales we were told as children.

Body 1:

If you are a kid at heart or just really enjoy science fiction and fairy tales, then this is the show for you. You will be able to relate it to all of those tales you were told as a small child. The show also works in the hardships of real people. These two things help the watcher relate to the show easily. Each actor or actress has their own set of problems that they have to conquer and somehow it ties into some fairy tale. Since most people are pleased when something ends happily, this is just what they did. They add the happy ending with a lot of suspense to keep the watcher coming back. You definitely will not be disappointed with this TV show.

The evaluation by Scott was well written. I have never watched any of the James Bond movies and by the end of the evaluation I still had no idea what they were about. I mean, I understand it's an action packed movie and I know his "Bond. James Bond." phrase but I haven't the slightest clue of the plot. Scott really elaborates on the characters. I learned that James Bond is lively and takes his job seriously. And there are attractive women trying to seduce and distract him from his job, which I have no idea what that is. There are villains and weapons and foreigners, like any other typical hero action movie. There's Ben that catchy music that wraps you up and makes the movie more suspenseful. Scott compares this movie to other super hero movies which gives the reader a common ground. By not giving too much away about the movie I feel as if I could still watch it and not know what was going to happen next. By elaborating on the characters I feel like I could watch the movie and understand it better because I know the characters more. One thing Scott did not do was add what other critics have said about the movie. Overall, I think it was a good evaluation and will help me when it comes to writing my evaluation on the movie I picked.

In Class Writing Prompt 4

The hall was silent until she heard a classroom door slam shut right beside her. She turned and looked in all directions and no one was around. At this point she was a little creeped out but, she wasn't scared because it easily could have been a teacher, so she kept walking. This was one of her many bathroom breaks she had taken that day. She wanted to hide her hurt from everyone else so they wouldn't think she was being over dramatic but it was proving to be much harder than what she thought. The night before her boyfriend of a year had broken up with her, she didn't understand why, everything was going so well she thought. They were always together and were the couple everyone thought would get married. But, when he told her they were over he didn't give her a single explanation. That morning at school she walked in and was the center of attention, all her classmates were by their lockers whispering to their friends and this made it all worse for her. She then turned the corner and right there standing was her love and some girl that had just moved there a month ago. This was the beginning of the end for her. She stood up tall and walked right by and right into the bathroom and sat down and cried. All her friends burst through the door and were trying their hardest to comfort her but it wasn't enough, that's not the comfor she wanted. The day seemed to just slowly move on and at the last bell she bolted out of the school and walked home. After that day all she wanted to do was just go and lay down and sleep. After a week or two things started to get better, she was going out with her friends and she even won homecoming queen. The homecoming king was the quarterback of the football and team, and not bad looking either. They went shopping for their dress and tux together and ended up having a really good time. When homecoming night came around she was getting ready and came downstairs, her date told her she looked absolutely beautiful and they left for the dance. When they arrived everyone was stunned, especially her ex-boyfriend. He knew is messed up big time.

Juno

Reading the review for Juno was kind of well, a review. I had watched Juno before and thought it was a decent movie. I have not watched it in a long time so my view to it probably has changed now that I am more mature. I thought the review was a very good review. It presented negatives and positives; a negative would have been that the dialogue was too clever and sarcastic and a positive would have been that Juno would kind of be a role model to young teenage girls, in a way. I kind of disagree with when they said that the dialogue was too sarcastic or clever compared to real-life teen pregnancy because I think it would be just the same in real life. Some people have to cope with things like that, if something is really hard for a person then they will kind of joke about it to make it seem not so bad. I think when her evaluation of the movie was on point when she said that the movie had a lot of heart. I agree, Juno is a movie that has a screwed up situation and the characters still try to make the best of it. One of the critics that Heinekamp included in her evaluation that said that it would have been more realistic if Juno would have gotten an abortion, I think is wrong. If you look at teen girls that are pregnant these days most of them are having the baby. I think it is more realistic for her to carry out with the pregnancy, but I think it would have been more realistic of her to keep it too. You do not always hear about abortions and people getting them which makes her having one less realistic and it would have been very controversial. Overall, I thought the review was pretty accurate.

In Class Writing Prompt 3

How I met your mother is one of my favorite tv shows. I especially liked this episode though. I like how it showed what each guy wanted out of his life but each time they talked about it they always included each other. They were always there for each other to make each other feel better. I think this episode was kind of realistic because everyone always has that picture of what they want to be like in a couple years. And they typically want to be richer, better looking and so much more. Everyone has their ideal life but it never works the way that they planned. Just like in this episode they all had their ideal life but when it came down to the present, their life was better than they imagined. People are very impatient and don't like to wait for the things that they want so when it doesn't happen right away they are disappointed. Patience is key in life. I don't always think about this, like a lot of people. I went the things I want when I want them, I hate waiting. But, really you need to be happy with what you have and tell yourself, one day you'll have the things you want now, or something better. That is what I learned from this episode.

College in General

I cannot really complain much. I like college, much better than high school. I mean I would much rather not go to school at all. It is not really the learning that gets to me and stuff, it is the fact that I have to get up early 3 days out of the week and drive here.. to learn. That drives me crazy. I was actually pretty nervous about it coming in on the first day, mainly because I had absolutely no idea where I was going. I can deal with not knowing people and not talking to them and getting weird stares because frankly I don’t really care because half the time I’m still half asleep. And the more I thought about it, it really sucked I was not going to know anyone. I mean I went to the same school for the past 12 years of my life and I grew up with the same kids, for the last 12 years of my life. I may not have liked them all but it was still bittersweet leaving it behind. I am thankful that I am getting a head start though so next year when they are all complaining and sad I can be like listen, it’s going to be the best time of your life. Right now no one believes me, they are terrified that it is going to be so hard and they are going to have so much work. Well you do, but you have plenty of time to do it. I like my classes too. I think what I like most about college is that I will be taking classes over what I like to learn about, not what I have to learn about. Besides this year though because I have to take all these gen. eds. I do like most of the classes though so it is not too bad. But, that is kind of my overall view of college as of now, we’ll see if that changes.

In-Class Assignement 2

The object I brought to class was a planner. It is blue and has silver binding. It is about an inch thick with paper. It feels smooth and the pages feel like typical paper. The binding is hard and cold. It does not really have a smell. It does not speak words but when I flip through the pages it makes a "flish, flish, flish" noise. When I accidentally rip a page it makes a "chhh" noise. I will not taste it because I doubt it tastes very good. It is related to writing because I can write down the things I need to accomplish each day. I can use it to write down ideas I get at random times too. It also helps me remember what day it is so I can stay focused on what I need to to do that day. It does not help a lot with reading. If I put my writing assignments in it I will get them finished on time because I will have easy access to when they are do. If I write ideas down then I can go back and look at them because it is hard to remember everything. This will help me write better papers.

While reading The Canary-Colored Caravan of Death, I found it almost hard to keep up with. After reading the introduction and the whole story it showed a lot that her parents were English teachers and that she lived in a funeral home. I think she looked up to her parents a lot, especially her father, but I thought it was sad that her parents were always so busy and they did not really spend time together. I think this is what caused her to be such an unhappy person and so bitter. I think her knowing why her dad killed himself helped her, a lot and made her realize she did not want where she lived to impact her like that. I think it is sad that he killed himself and that it was because of the small town that he lived in. It makes me happy that I do not live in a small-minded town like that, that is kind of cut off from the rest of the country. I think it was nice that because of where she lived, her parents being English teachers, and her reading poetry, she wanted to write it. She seemed like a very creative person but her parents kind of stopped her. Her dad thought he was helping her but really he was kind of making her dislike it in ways because he wanted to perfect everything she did. Her parents being busy all the time helped her grow as a person and make her more responsible which is a very good thing.

In Class Writing Prompt 1

I am not so much afraid of writing and being creative, it's that I never know what to say. When I start writing a ton of things run through my mind and I am not sure which one to go with. I also am not real sure on how to start it either. When I start my "grabber" I think of the sentence I want to say but then I go back and change it about 10 times. I am not afraid of being creative, it is just hard sometimes. It is harder for me to be creative with writing because it is not something that I really want to do, it is not something I want to put all my effort into most of the time. When it comes to something I really like and enjoy I will be creative and not have any difficulty in doing it. So, maybe I should I write about stuff I really enjoy and that pertains to me, but that is not always possible. Ways to be creative in the literacy narrative are to use a lot of detail. If you talk about what the one thing is that made you not want to write or want to write then talk and explain a lot about it because that is the main topic. If you give a lot of detail about something it makes the reader feel like they are in your place and helps them know what is happening and may help them enjoy what they are reading a little bit more. I can achieve self-efficacy by trying to get more into writing by writing about what I like and what I enjoy writing about. And if I cannot write about what I want, then I need to do research and try my hardest to enjoy what I have to write about. I need to work on writing in detail and trying to catch the readers attention a lot better. I am not afraid to write because if I was I would have a lot of trouble writing this prompt but I am not. I think this is because this prompt is about me and how I feel about something, it is always easier to write about yourself because that is what you know best. Writing about yourself and what you like or do not like is one thing that comes at ease. A lot of people may not like writing about themself and like writing stories that just come off the top of their head and I give them props. I wish I could sit down and just let a story roll off the top of my head, I think I cannot do that because I am not very creative when it comes to stuff like that. I like hands-on things and being creative that way.

Nemat's story the Seconhand Bookseller is a heartwarming story. It is kind of sad that the little girl just goes to her room all the time and does not really interact with her mother or father. I feel like all kids should definitely interact with their parents. I think it gives an accurate representation or middle class families thought because it shows parents working all day to provide for their family and the children are growing up to be very responsible. The little girl makes her own lunches and does her homework all on her own, it shows how well kids can still grow up in a working family. I think it is precious that the little girl likes reading so much too. She does her homework and then reads for the rest of the night, it shows how much she has to be learning. It made me happy to see that her mother wanted to help her get more books even with a tight budget. And the fact that she went to the bookstore and the old man was generous enough to give her a book for cheaper than what it was priced was awesome. He saw that the little girl took reading to the heart and it made her really happy. It seems like even though the story was very short you learned a lot about the little girl and her life.
