Career

So I am really upset that I have not been able to go to physical therapy for the past two weeks. I am supposed to be observing to get onto the waiting list for the Physical Therapy Assistant program here at Rhodes and I have like 9 ½ more hours to go and I could have gotten them done but it seems like everything has been popping up and stopping me from going. Two weeks ago it was Thanksgiving week and I went on Tuesday after class but Thursday I could not because of Thanksgiving. Last week on Tuesday I could not go because I had so much homework to do before Wednesday and Thursday and on Thursday I ended up staying later than I thought at school and could not go. I am pretty disappointed because I really want to get this finished so that I am on the waiting list and the faster I get on the waiting list the faster I get into my program. Thinking about my Program I am so excited! I want to just finish college so bad so I can start a real job and make good money. I also really like to learn about the Human Body because it pertains to me too. I like learning how it does the things it does and why it does this. It is really fun to see how diseases play their course in the body and how medicines work in the body as well. The human body is really a neat thing to know about. I am so excited to learn all this stuff so I can help people who are in pain and having trouble.

  1. I know what you mean I have to do my observation hours. The one thing that is different is for occupational therapy you do not need to do one until you are on the waiting list. So I luck out there. Although I have to wait I really wanted to get that done and out of the way! I find it so hard though with my busy schedule. I think it is a two year wait for a physical therapist assistant if I am not mistaking. I think mine is a year and a half that is if I plan on staying at Rhodes. I went to Findlay, and loved it there. The only downside is that I know I can get in the program at Rhodes, but I am not sure about Findlay. I would have to reapply the end of my sophomore year, and I could not even get in! I feel that is a big factor on where I go. I also feel the same way about the human body. I thought about doing physical therapy for a while, but occupational was just more of my thing. I also cannot wait to help people. That has always been a dream of mine. I think that by help someone in need that is the greatest thing you can do! It is feel good to give instead of receive a lot of the time. Both these jobs are good examples of giving to others to help them. Hopefully you can get your hours in, and get on the waiting list! Good luck!

  2. I have found out that this time of year is a VERY busy one. Not only do you have all of the holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, (and of course my birthday), but also finals week is right around the corner. It seems like every year right before the semester is over teachers and professors try their best to cram way too much information into the last couple weeks before finals. I have also been experiencing system overload these passed weeks and pretty much all of November and December. The beginning of November wasn't bad for me but about halfway through I got hired at a Dairy Farm. Ever since, I have to work every single day and double shifts on Friday's and Saturday's. Of course I have to work at 4 o'clock which just happens to be right in the middle of the day. Although I cannot complain because the paycheck so far has been great. Also, in school all of my papers and projects and exams are all being due at once that I can hardly keep track of them all. Of course I am a procrastinator so I always wait until the last possible second to do everything and that hasn't worked out real well. Also I am having a crap ton of doctors appointments this time too. I just found out that I have to have surgery on my knee on the 19th of December so I have to get all prepared for that. Bottom line, don't think you are the only one who is running short on time to get anything accomplished. I am just glad we have an extra week off after finals for Christmas break; blow off a bunch of steam and get ready for the dreadful second semester!
